Porcupine: Refined Through Experience — Born from Real Feedback
The Porcupine has stood as a symbol of strength, utility, and precision since its debut.
Over the past year, it's traveled with us to countless shows and meetups, where real conversations with knife enthusiasts revealed an important insight — while many loved its design, some found their fingers occasionally caught during deployment.
That feedback inspired the Porcupine Thumb Stud Version — keeping the same trusted build and bold character, now with a smoother, faster, and more intuitive opening experience.
Dependable Locking and Opening System
- The Top Liner Lock ensures smooth, one-handed operation and a secure lock-up, keeping your fingers safely away from the blade path during use.
- The nearly hidden lock bar is integrated inside the handle with a stainless-steel plate and reinforced by a solid steel backspacer for added rigidity.
- The new thumb stud design enables effortless, controlled opening while maintaining the Porcupine's signature handling and balance.
Pointy Tip and Big Belly Blade
- The generous blade belly makes slicing tasks—such as cutting meat, fruits, and vegetables—an absolute breeze.
- The pointy tip delivers precision for detailed work such as opening packages, cutting ropes, or slicing through cardboard.
- The 2.99" 14C28N blade offers excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and easy maintenance — ideal for both EDC and outdoor use.
Comfort Grip and Balanced Control
- With its 1.22" wide handle, the Porcupine fits comfortably in medium to large hands.
- Choose between G10 or Micarta handle materials to match your preferred feel and aesthetic.
- The forward choil allows multiple grip positions, while the dedicated handle choil prevents slippage during heavy use.
- The barrel lanyard tube enhances convenience for carrying, retrieving, and storing your knife while adding structural support to the handle.
Detailed Features
- Jimping ensures maximum grip and control at all key touchpoints.
- A stabilizing pin reinforces the handle, preventing deformation over time.
- All titanium-coated T8 screws simplify maintenance and add enhanced corrosion resistance, requiring just a single screwdriver.
- Internally milled liners reduce weight while maintaining strength for both EDC and demanding tasks.
- The thumb stud design allows smooth and controlled opening, even when wearing gloves.
- The titanium-coated recessed button enhances durability and wear resistance while minimizing accidental openings for improved safety.

This is a very good quality knife with excellent manufacturing details. It’s easy to hold and easy to open and close. The pocket clip is very secure and doesn’t get in the way of comfort when holding the knife. Highly recommended. I bought two and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
I purchased the second (?) version of the Porcupine recently, after having purchasing the Porcupine with the thumb hole from a secondary market. The thumbhole version was very good in everyway I prefer my blades. And the thumb stud version made it even better. The one thing I would find as a con is the jimping is a bit dull/slippery. I'd like to see it a bit sharper. Yes I know the PVD is probably the reason for this. While I do like the wire clip, I will replace it with a Lynch clip. Over all, I place Vosteed in the same camp as Giant Mouse and Kuby, but at a much more accessible price. Strangely, the Porcupine appears to be overshadowed by other Vosteed offerings. That said, The value compared to the materials, attento detail, workmanship and actual work toughness of the Vosteed Porcupine, the best in the knife market today. I'll be getting another soon. Hey Vosteed how about an M390 or Elmax version soon. Don't discontinue this model.
